This is an overview of the categories currently used by Funders Online to index online funder information. When updating its record, a foundation simply needs to provide the exact reference (relative url) to the web page corresponding with the features below, if such a page is available.

The purpose of this indexing is twofold:

• to facilitate your research by enabling to find out at a glance if a funder has, for example, a newsletter and to access it directly from Funders Online rather than having to look for it when you get to the funder's home page;
• to serve as checklist for funders currently developing their web presence as it reflects, albeit in a very synthetic form, the current editorial standards pursued by the majority of independent funders.

Last but not least, we would like to stress the fact that this index is a work in progress - as is every website - and it can be changed or expanded very easily. Send us your suggestions for improvements or new categories!
